Welcome to Scofield Church

Scofield church was one of the first churches founded in the city of Dallas, and by most accounts is the oldest nondenominational church in the state of Texas. Going back to 1877 when Dallas was a frontier town without paved roads, the church has persevered for nearly a century and a half. It is named for one of its early pastors C. I. Scofield, who was the author of the famed “Scofield Reference Bible.” That was then. Today, the church is a diverse ministry, reflecting the changed realities of its Northeast Dallas location.

Currently the church sponsors five non-english speaking churches which meet in the large facility the Lord has blessed us with, and all these congregations are different but with a majority make up of immigrants and refugees. Scofield Church is heavily involved in local outreach as well as global gospel work, partnering with both local and global ministries. You might find members ministering God’s good news of salvation in local apartment complexes, driving refugee children to our AWANA program, out in a prayer station doing street evangelism, or on a missions trip in Africa or elsewhere. Overseas the reach is significant with the church supporting over forty missionary workers in all parts of the globe.

Inwardly, the church continues to minister the Word God, with experienced Senior Pastor Dr. Jeff VanGoethem (Dallas Seminary, 1982, 1998) expositing the scriptures and adults and children studying God’s Word in classes and groups on Sundays and throughout the week. A strong, vibrant elementary school, Scofield Christian School, is also housed on the campus. At the center of everything is a warm, God-centered prayer service on Wednesday evenings at 7:00. Many gather to seek the Lord for our neighborhood, city and world, understanding that “prayer isn’t everything, but everything comes by prayer.” At Scofield Church, we are not putting on a show, we are seeking the Lord.  Welcome to all who want to seek Him with us, all peoples and backgrounds together, seeking Him, the Lord Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

Scofield is an open and non-denominational church - all are welcome to taste and see that the Lord is good to those who call upon Him. We hope this website will give you a brief introduction to Scofield Church.
